I made my Art Directing debut on this 40 min YouTube Barbie Special. All the music videos were built and staged in After Effects sets (outside of the main set). This was an awesome challenge and really opened up the possibilities to some vibrant, abstract sequences.
The Dreamhouse was also overhauled with a smart-home character, and a design refresh. This also let us establish a new 2D aesthetic for the ‘My First Barbie’ franchise.
I’m really proud of the project, and the excellent small team or artists and compositors who made it work. Currently at 12M views on YouTube, it’s great to see it so well received.
My personal favorite music video from the special. I love the song but also the rich night-time color pallet of the set.
